Chapter 1

Crash! The sound of glass shattering and something exploding filled the air.
“What the heck was that?!?” Sevyon asked himself. He jumped out of bed and looked at the clock on his shelf. “Eleven A.M., but its still dark outside…” BAM! Sevyon’s door snapped in half and small dark creatures began filling the room. They looked a little bit like large ants with giant yellow eyes. They had antennae on their heads which wiggled wildly. “I’ve got to be dreaming.” I’ve got to be dreaming Sevyon thought to himself, but not for long… One of the creatures leapt at him. Sevyon ducked and ran to his window. One of the little beasts jumped on his back and began clawing at it. “AUGHH!” Sevyon screamed. More of them jumped on him. Sevyon had an idea. He kicked one of the creatures off of his feet, and jumped as hard as he could out the window. (Sevyon’s room was located on the second floor of a rather large two story house so the fall was rather dangerous.) The window shattered and Sevyon and his parasites fell. During the fall Sevyon tried to pry to beasts off to no avail. Upon impact on the ground (which Sevyon skillfully forced on the creatures rather than himself) the monsters grips on him loosened. Sevyon took his chance, got up, and sprinted down the street. While running he looked around. The creatures were everywhere! People screaming filled Sevyon’s mind. “What is going on here?” He wondered. Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of something in the sky. He looked up. “Whoa!” He exclaimed when he saw the massive black hole in the sky. Pouring from it were more of the small black creatures. “What are those things?...” The odd black creatures crawled about four limbs. They had two back limbs like legs and two front ones like arms. The beings seemed to have an odd talent. They could latten their body and slide along the ground in a two-dimensional manner. That wasn’t the weirdest part about them though. When they had grabbed onto Sevyon’s back, he noticed that the creatures didn’t stink. While that in itself was not weird, the texture of their skin was. It wasn’t furry like one would expect, nor was it leathery. It was something entirely unexplainable.
Further up the street Sevyon saw a police car driving. “Yes!” Sevyon exclaimed. “Finally some help!” But unfortunately for Sevyon, the policeman was soon to be no more. One of the little beasties flung himself at the cars tires and slashed them. The car skidded and 20 or so of the monsters slammed their bodies into the car which then rolled. The policeman climbed out of the car window. Sevyon ran over to try and help, but it was of no avail. The next thing Sevyon saw would be the weirdest to date. A mass of the beasts jumped on to policeman. They seemed to all be headed for his chest. The victim attempted to pull out his gun and shoot the devils, but his arm was cut by the claws of one and the gun skidded across the road. Sevyon could no longer see the policeman. All he saw was a pile of the little black, ant-like entities. Then something strange happened. Something glowing levitated into the air. It glowed a pinkish glow and was the shape of a heart. It turned black after a moment and vanished. “What in the world?” Upon the vanishing of the heart, the monsters climbed away and where Sevyon expected to see a mangled body, there was nothing. “They are him…” Sevyon thought. The creatures soon found another victim. They all turned their eyes to Sevyon. “Oh dirt…” Sevyon looked around for something to defend himself with and spotted the recently departed policeman’s gun lying in the road. He dashed towards it, picked it up, and turned around. Chu-chink went the pistol as Sevyon pulled the action. One of the beings sprang at him. BLAM BLAM BLAM!!! “What…?” Sevyon said out loud. Instead of leaving a body like Sevyon expected, the bullets had penetrated the creature’s head and the monster vaporized. “How weird is that?” But at least he could get rid of them. 15 or so of the creatures came at him. They were so close… he couldn’t miss. BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM CLICK CLICK CLICK! “Blast it all!” Sevyon exclaimed out loud. The creatures that remained began to form a circle around him. “This is not my day.” When all seemed to be lost…
“Yo Sevyon! Catch!” Yelled a voice behind Sevyon. Sevyon looked over. His best friend Rangorax threw a 12 gauge at him. Sevyon deftly caught it. Chu-chink. BOOM! Chu-chink, BOOM! After a couple more shots, Sevyon had cleared the area.
“Dude! You saved my tail!” Sevyon exclaimed while he clasped Rangorax’s hand and bumped shoulders with him.” Rangorax didn’t look too happy.
“My parents… they’re…” He couldn’t finish. His head went down. Sevyon put his hand around his old friend. There wasn’t much time for grief. A group of the little demons had grouped down the street and were coming towards them.
“Let’s go back to my house. We’ll see if my parents will know what to do.” Sevyon suggested. The boys walked down the street towards Sevyon’s house. A couple of random monsters noticed them, but were easily dispatched of. The beasts seemed to be more focused on something else.
Upon arrival at Sevyon’s house, the damage that had been done sunk in. The windows were all shattered and the door was busted down. Sevyon instinctively ran up to his parents room with his friend close behind.
“Mom! Dad!” he called. No answer.
“Check this.” Rangorax said as he pointed at a rifle in the floor. The rifle bad been in Sevyon’s family for many years. It was his father’s. Ammunition was scattered all over the floor. Sevyon looked at his parents bed. The blankets were shredded, a lamp was broken, everything was destroyed. Sevyon dropped to his knees.
“Noooooooooo!” He screamed. Rangorax sat down beside him. Through his own tear clouded eyes Sevyon saw that his buddy was crying to. These two boys were the closest things to brothers that they had. They were both only children, but knew what it was like to have a brother in each other. The longer they sat there the more the grief of the loss grew. Realization set in. They mourned for some time over an hour before they thought about the present.
“What do we do now?” Rangorax asked.
“Well, we can’t just sit here.” Sevyon replied. “Let’s go look for more survivors. We’ll bring some guns and ammo and stuff and we’ll find other people that can help us.” The boys then both armed themselves for their mission; Sevyon with his father’s rifle and the policeman’s pistol (Which he reloaded) and Rangorax with his shotgun and one of Sevyon’s father’s pistols. They pocketed some ammo and left the house.
“Let’s kick this pig.” Rangorax said as they walked out the door.
